Soil products created by worms, known as vermicompost, are the results of “waste” organics that have been converted into a highly valuable product in which output is greater in richness and benefits than the original waste. In essence, the end product is greater than the sum of its parts.
These soil amendments offer an organic solution to bring life back into soil via healthy biology rather than harmful chemicals. Because our soil amendments are non-toxic, they are safe for children, pets and all life forms.
Benefits to soil
Vermicompost enhances soil by increasing its ability to hold water, increasing its pore size to allow for aerobic air flow and texture, and reducing erosion.
Benefits to plants
Research studies have shown that the use of vermicompost can help plants increase in size, and in yield, with faster seed germination. Additionally, vermicompost can increase the growth of seedlings, and provide earlier and larger fruit with improved nutritional quality. It also has successfully demonstrated that it decreases plant diseases and pest attacks.
Castings are fecal pellets rich in minerals that are vital for plant growth. These allow a slow release of nutrients better suited for plant use and better water holding capacity. Worm castings are 50% higher in organic matter than soil that has not been processed through a worm.
This extract is a brewed liquid that is actively aerated with worm castings to increase beneficial microbes. Worm extract can be used for soil drenching or injection at the root zone.
Worm tea is a nutrient-rich soil amendment that can be sprayed directly onto plant foliage as a foliar spray to supplement the nutritional needs of your plants. Nutrients are extracted from the worm castings via brewing with added microbial foods for additional beneficial microbe production.
